How to file your damaged nails without damaging them?

You can soften your cuticles by soaking your hands in a bowl of lukewarm to hot water for a few minutes. Then dry your hands by patting them with a towel and gently push back the cuticles (preferably using a cuticle pusher with a silicone tip to avoid damaging the skin) so that the contours of your nails are well defined. Once you have decided on the shape you want to give your nails, start by filing the outside of the nail, then move towards the centre with the file, inclining it more or less according to the curve you want to create.
